Red Gear Wireless Gamepad Review
Red Gear Pro Series Wireless Gamepad Review:
I was happy with my Sony DS3 controller and used it both for my PC as well as my PS3. But unfortunately all good things come to an end. So did my controller. I was looking for a cheap budget controller. After a bit of searching some online shopping portals I came across some options out of which I finally decided to get hold of this Redgear pro Series Wireless Gamepad. It costed me Rs.1,222 back then. I have been using this controller for over 6 months now and I will share with you my experiences with this one. Firstly here are some pictures of the controller on it's seventh month.
First of all let me start with all the bad things. So here are the cons of this controller:
1. There are some connectivity issue if the Bluetooth receiver is somewhat facing any physical blockage or barrier. Other than that games play really fine from a distance of 6 to 8 feet from the receiver.( Never tried to go beyond though)
2. The upper rubber part of the analog sticks tends to wear out with time, so I put some rubber caps to prevent the wear outs.
These were the only limitations of this controller. Now let me tell you about all the positives about this one. I think Red Gear is quite an underrated brand. It does provide us with quality products. Here are the pros of this controller :
1. The price at which it comes. It is really cheap and to my surprise it was much above my expectations when I unboxed it. It feels really good at hand.
2. The build quality is amazing. It is quite sturdy. I dropped it few times and even punched it at times when I lost an online match (LOL) but it still manages to give me that out of the box feeling.
3. Battery Life: It manages to give me over 10 hours of solid gameplay time after charging it for just over an hour. That is a helluva battery life. It is more than a bonus from a controller at this price point.
4. Looks: In one world simply amazing. The design though is quite similar to a Xbox 360 controller but the backlit buttons make this controller look quite premium.
Out of the box you will receive the controller, a Bluetooth receiver, an instruction manual, a driver CD and a usb cable. Here is what the box looks like :
Final Verdict:
Whether you are in a tight budget or not you can always go for this controller if you require one. You will get all the qualities of any premium controller in this one at a much lower cost.
